A C-clamp, also called a G-clamp, is a tool used to hold pieces of wood or metal in place. It’s often used in carpentry and welding, but can be used for other things too. You use a C Clamp/G Clamp by turning a screw at the bottom of the frame until it holds the piece tightly.

What is a C clamp G Clamp used for?

To use a G-clamp, you turn the screw at the bottom of the frame until you reach the desired level of tightness. When tightening, the objects being held are squeezed between the screw and the frame. Loosening the clamp releases the pressure, allowing you to move the secured objects.

In woodworking, while G-clamps are handy, they can leave marks on the wood. To prevent this, you can place pieces of scrap wood between the clamp and the workpiece. These scraps absorb the pressure, protecting your project from damage. There are also clamps with longer arms available for reaching into tight spaces.
